No longer will the dominion of death be able to keep men captive

Hades is bound; the Prophets rejoice with one voice, saying:
A Saviour has come for them that have faith.
Come forth, ye faithful, for the Resurrection.

Icon: Descent into Hell (Сошествие во ад), late 15th Century, Rostov Province. The Icon shows Hades personified and bound as Jesus raises Adam and Eve bodily from the grave. To the right of Christ stand the Forerunner and Prophet John the Baptist, Righteous Abel, King Solomon, and King David.
